October 25, 2017 – October 29
We had our momentum going and visiting wineries on day 3 was our biggest day yet. We managed to visit six with a well laid out plan…just kidding we just kind of had some ideas of where we wanted to go and started driving. First, we had a hearty breakfast and a bucket of coffee to get the day going. Did a bit of thrift store shopping too.
Stop 1 – Veritas
Stunning was the first thought that came to my mind when we saw this beautiful winery. While the ceilings were tall and grand this place felt cozy all at the same time.
Stop 2 – Afton Mountain Vineyards
First, I’ve learned I’m sometimes so in the moment I forget to take photos, this happens a lot! I’m working on creating a list of pics for each stop from now on, but for now, it is what it is. I failed in photography for Afton, but they have a great tasting room and they even offer some cute places to stay.
Stop 3 Silverback Distillery
Not on the list, but we saw this on the way and just knew we needed to stop. Best decision every! Let me clarify, we are not huge spirits drinkers, definitely wine and cider is our go to. However, sometimes you find a place that reminds you what you enjoyed about a good mixed drink. This is that spot. You have the option to go for straight pours or mixer cocktails. We chose the mixers. Great decision. We needed a break for lunch at this point and took the time after our tasting to relax on their outdoor deck and eat our picnic and drink some water and just relax. It is so important when to remember to stop and just hang for a bit. We had no goal in mind of how many spots we would hit on this amazing trip so there was no rush.
Stop 4 – Cardinal Point Vineyard Winery
Another great spot. A friendly experience and overall nice wines. I loved the building outside and in. Definitely going back here.
Don’t laugh, yes, I know it is backward.
Stop 5 – Hill Top Berry Farm & Winery
Yes, another photo fail. We love mead and I was lost in the experience, lol. Great spot for authentic honey mead. So freaking delicious. We’ll head back here for sure. I’ll update this with photos when we do. But definitely a great stop if you like mead and sweet too. Which I do.
Stop 6 – Flying Fox Vineyard & Winery
What a cute place. We were driving by and saw the sign for this one and figured why not? I mean what is one more? So glad we stopped in. Lovely wines and we loved their Vermouth.
After a very full day, we headed to our new motel for the next couple of nights. A cute place, friendly and clean. The only downside was no nearby coffee that we could find. Anyway, we stayed at Amherst Inn. So we got settled in and headed to dinner and a little bit of scouting out the area, found a thrift store to stop in which was fun.
Thank you for joining us on visiting wineries day 3. Don’t forget to checkout Day 1 and Day 2 if you missed it. Stay tuned for one last post about this trip with day 4 and 5.
